Step-by-step guide on Spinbase and its use cases

Get our user manual for how you can use Spinbase to optimize your EU funding process

.

Spinbase is an AI-powered search tool to find funding, partners and similar projects for your Research, Development and Innovation ideas.

By simply entering your idea description, you will find:

  • suitable funding instruments
  • other organizations with similar interest and experience in that domain
  • past funded projects to refine your plans.

The search engine works based on semantic analysis and natural language processing, thus provides more versatile results than traditional searches.

Spinbase is a web application, accessible on most common web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.

For a step-by-step guide on how Spinbase works, please watch the tutorial videos.

Universities & Research organizations

Grants office, research managers, funding specialists and research support staff in many universities & research organizations use Spinbase to find funding calls quickly, look for partners with specific expertise and benchmark their research ideas against what has been funded before.

Cities, municipalities & regional development companies

Business advisor, digital officers, EU affairs managers and project managers in cities and municipalities use Spinbase to find funding calls for their regional development projects and support local businesses in accessing relevant financing for innovation.

Because Spinbase uses semantic analysis and natural language processing, free-form long-text search queries that describe:

  • What problem you wish to address
  • What you want to achieve
  • How you will achieve that (activities, research methodologies, etc.)

This will likely match the “Expected outcomes” and “Scope” section in the call description. The search query can be 1 paragraph of about 3 sentences.

For instance, research abstracts, project ideas, service/product description, or organization strategy usually works very well on Spinbase.

Keywords also work on Spinbase, but not optimally. You can try to clarify your keywords by adding context: such as instead of search with “air”, you can search with “air quality and emission data”. You can also use a string of keywords in the same field such as: “artificial intelligence, AI, machine learning, ML”.
